Housing
and Transport while studying at MUD
Make-Up Designory wishes for students that travel from outside
the greater New York City region to have an easy transition to Manhattan.
In order to assist in this goal, the school maintains a list of available
housing options, and will assist the student in securing a lease, furniture
rental, and public transportation. For those students flying into the
New York City area, JFK International Airport and LaGuardia Airport
are equally accessible by subway or by taxi to Manhattan.
Parking and Transport
Parking
is extremely challenging in New York City, so the school recommends
planning to use public transportation. For those students intent on
bringing their own cars, please be advised that monthly parking is very
limited, and expensive. Most parking structures charge between $275-400
per month for permits.

Public
transportation includes the Citywide Bus and Shuttle Services, the regional
subway system, and the river ferry system. You should familiarize yourself
with the various communities and the available pathways. See the New
York MTA website for information, details, schedules and fees. And,
the school recommends The
New York Mapguide, by Michael Middleditch, published by Penguin
Books. This pocket-size book provides subway information, travel information
and community affairs information by neighborhoods and communities.
Housing
Metropolitan New
York City is one of the most expensive places to live and housing availability
is difficult to find. You must plan ahead to ensure that you have enough
time to seek out and secure acceptable housing.
The school maintains a private
housing website to help you in your search. This is a place to find
sublets, shares, as well as make contact with other incoming students,
once you are enrolled. Please call the school for more information about
this service. In addition, we also offer a few listings for your convience
on this page (see below).
Make-up Designory
does not have an official relationship with any of the following agencies
or services, however, these will be valuable in helping you to determine
your housing options.
