Special Make-up Effects

The Special Make-up Effects Course teaches the lab and formulation techniques that are used and required in the creation of today’s film and television make-up effects.

While prosthetic application is still a focus of this course, you will learn to not only apply prosthetics but to create them. Along your journey from project conceptualization to prosthetic application you will learn to sculpt, mold, paint and apply prosthetic pieces. Your projects may be the result of your own unique ideas or inspired from current film and television effects.

This course, when taken by an experienced make-up artist, as continuing education, will enhance that artist’s skill level at his/her current level of employment. When taken as part of a program (i.e. Master Program), this course prepares the student to work as an entry-level film and television make-up artist and special make-up effects lab technician.

Upon successful completion of this course, a Certificate of Completion is awarded.
