Journeyman Make-up Artistry Program
Film and television
are the primary focus of the Journeyman Make-up
Artistry Program as it prepares the student to work as an entry-level
make-up artist for the entertainment industry. In this program,
you will begin your preparation for the film and television industry
by taking courses in Beauty Make-up and
Character Make-up Artistry.
Film and television depict characters in a variety of situations, covering
all periods of history in differing environments. As a make-up artist
you help the writer, director and actor to create the picture. The story
being told or the medium may require that only basic corrective make-up
be applied or it may require the use of prosthetics and other elements
of special make-up effects.
In the Beauty Course, your foundation as a make-up artist will begin.
You will learn the fundamentals of contouring, base matching, corrective
make-up and the correct use of color in order to prepare your subject
for camera. In the Character Course you will design and create characters
that will showcase your knowledge of make-up. By incorporating varying
techniques of special make-up effects you will create simulated injuries,
age make-ups and learn to apply prosthetics, bald caps and facial hair.
The Beauty
Course and the Character Course
are the same as those offered individually and both courses include
a professional photo session.
A Diploma is presented
upon completion of this Program.
