Make-up Designory was founded in 1997 with the goal of bringing excellence to make-up education.

The school's founding philosophy was to offer unparalleled
education, put the students first and create an institution for learning which the make-up community as a whole, could be proud of. Make-Up Designory first offered courses in beauty make-up, character make-up and special make-up effects. Since the school’s inception, courses in studio hair styling, portfolio development, image consulting and airbrushing have been added.

Both of Make-up Designory’s schools are licensed by their respective states. In 2003, the Los Angeles campus of Make-up Designory received national accreditation from and was honored by ACCSCT as a distinguished school.

From its original two-classroom 800 square foot location in North Hollywood, CA, Make-up Designory has grown to occupy over 20,000 square feet in Los Angeles, CA. The Los Angeles facilities include school, corporate offices, classrooms, related learning areas, a retail store, prosthetics lab and a warehouse and distribution center. In 2005 the company opened its east coast facility in New York City. A school, retail store and offices are housed in a 5000 square foot facility in Soho, in the southern part of Manhattan.

While staying true to the Company’s educational roots, Make-up Designory has grown to offer a full range of color cosmetics, brush line, cases and related items for the Make-up Artist and consumer. In 2004 the company published its own book on beauty make-up artistry and in 2005 published a book on character make-up artistry. Today, Make-up Designory sells its books and products in its stores in Los Angeles and New York and in other specialty stores around the USA, Japan, Australia, and online.
